After 17 years and several name changes we are finally bringing to an end the development of our very popular e-mail forwarding software.
What started off as a simple tool for getting Hotmail messages on to your Blackberry (anybody remember those, Hotmail or Blackberry?) developed in to a bit of a behemoth, GetMail, GetMail for Hotmail or eventually Easy E-Mail Forwarding has been on a long journey featuring several awards, a cover of PC Pro and many plaudits. On a personal note it was the software that allowed me to walk away from a dull as dish water day job. Alas the core technology on which it was built is now at the point where maintaining it just isn’t a good use of our resources and so it’s time to call an end to its development journey. It’s not all bad news though because it’s still a very effective way of forwarding e-mails. It’s not the end either, we have already started work on a modern replacement. But with the final release of EEF we’ve took it full circle adding a “Relay” option to the SMTP configuration, having this unchecked alters the e-mail headers making messages far more deliverable to even the fussiest receiving accounts! And whilst no new features will be added we will still bug fix (within the said technology limitations).
